Revit Family

What is a Revit Family?

A Revit Family describes a component that you use to build your Revit model. It can include geometry in 2D or 3D as well as data that supports the definition and creation of object instances. A Revit Family can be anything: a chair, window, wall, elevator, escalator, etc.

A hierarchical system is used, as the family decribes to Revit how to make something. The type of the Family permits certain parameters to be applied and the element (or instance) is the actual part of the building model. For example, an elevator may be the name of a Revit Family. There may be types that describe the different sizes, materials, parameter variables, etc. The actual building model will have instances of those types placed in the building. Any change to a type is updated in every instance throughout the project. For example, when you change the elevator shaft width of one of your elevator types, all the elevators with the same elevator type are updated instantly.

How DigiPara® Elevatorarchitect can help?

DigiPara Elevatorarchitect contains free Revit Families to model an elevator within Autodesk Revit software. The Revit plug-in also supports Revit users in finding the correct size and number of required elevators that are available for their building in their region and import them into their Revit project.

No struggling with Families anymore: Download, placing and adjustment of single Revit families are eliminated.
