Process optimisation

Creation of CAD drawings and BIM models for lifts and escalators changing

Many companies are striving to optimise their processes and looking for solutions enabling them to produce CAD drawings & BIM Models for lifts and escalators in an even faster and uncomplicated manner. One reason for this development is in particular changes in the sales process among lift and escalator manufacturers. Today scale drawings are not just produced on getting the order, but are part of the entire sales process. Normally it is standard practice to deliver the drawings upon initial customer inquiries and offers.

To permit fast and easy production of inquiry, offer or order drawings for lifts and escalators DigiPara® GmbH offers a variety of software products. Lift company sales staff are quickly and easily able to produce offer drawings even in the early sales phases with products like DigiPara® Liftdesigner or DigiPara® Escalatordesigner, without having to resort to the drawing department.

Particularly large companies, which produce more than 250 lifts a year, go a step further and accelerate the processes in order development by complete drawing & BIM automation. The advantage: the sales department can react even faster as a result of the integration with SAP or other ERP systems. At the same time the production of drawings is standardised, so that drawing errors are reduced. In the meantime, medium-sized companies are increasingly catching up and automating their drawing processes.

Another trend in CAD drawings is the rising demand for 3D models. Building owners and architects want to plan and implement more and more 3D models of lifts in their buildings. So-called BIM models are supplied by the lift companies to architects with 3D programmes. Companies which still work two-dimensionally will in future be unable to serve these inquiries. This is why DigiPara® GmbH recently developed DigiPara® Elevatorarchitect especially for the architecture software Autodesk® Revit®. Architects can produce 3D Autodesk Revit elevator families easily and quickly with this tool.

Many lift companies are deploying ever more 3D programmes like Autodesk® Inventor® or SolidWorks in order to be able to produce production drawings more easily and simply. To optimise the drawing process in production for lift companies too DigiPara® GmbH is currently working on a software solution for Autodesk® Inventor®. This will allow designers to produce complete lift models and installation drawings efficiently in Autodesk® Inventor®. Integration in other 3D CAD systems is already planned.
