Elevator design & Commercial Buildings

A commercial building is a structure used for conducting business activities and offering goods or services to customers. It includes offices, retail stores, restaurants, and other establishments for commercial purposes.

These points need to be considered when designing lifts for commercial buildings:

  • Elevators in commercial buildings are vertical transportation systems for people and goods.
  • Modern control mechanisms optimize efficiency and passenger flow.
  • Destination control systems assign elevators based on passenger destinations, enhancing efficiency.
  • Accessibility features cater to people with disabilities for equitable access.
  • Safety features include emergency stop buttons and obstruction sensors.
  • Regular maintenance ensures safe operation.
  • Energy-efficient elevators reduce environmental impact.

In case of commercial building design you will typically need a Vertical Transportation Consultant ( VT-Consultant)

Do you need a VT-Consultant?

VT or Vertical Transportation Consultants are lift shaft experts.

They have a very high knowledege about lifts and can help you with:

  • Making a buiding traffic analysis.
They use special elevator traffic analysis software, e.g. from Peters Research.
  • Calculate the number of lifts
  • Define Speed and Payload
  • Suggest manufacturer neutral dimensions.
This is important in early BIM phases, where the lift manufacturer is not yet defined.
  • Highrise Buildings require special considerations for vertical transport

How to find a Vertical Transportation Consultant?

There are different VT-Consultants to help you:

  • Click on one of the logos above for DigiPara proofed VT Consultants
  • Google "Vertical Transportation Consultant"
  • Big elevator companies also have their own VT Experts you may.
These Experts will usually suggest "their lift shaft sizes", and that means that probably other manufacturers can not offer a matching size
  • Highrise Buildings require special considerations for vertical transport

What is a Lift Installation Company?
